FEATURES OF STUDENT ARMRESTLING DEVELOPMENT IN 2021-2024 *

the article presents the main results of the Russian championships among students in armwrestling in 2021-2024. The achievements of students in individual competition are highlighted. The teams of universities that most often won in the team competition are identified.

Within the framework of solving the problems of health promotion and organization of a healthy lifestyle of students through physical education and sport, armwrestling has a significant role to play, as this sport is rapidly developing in higher education institutions.In March 2020, after the application of the Russian Armwrestling Federation to the International University Sports Federation (FISU), armwrestling was officially recognized as a student sport at the international level. This event opened the opportunity to organize international competitions under the auspices of FISU, including the World University Games.Since 2014, the Russian Student Championships have been held with the support of the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation, the Russian Armwrestling Federation and the Russian Student Sports Union on the basis of the Belgorod State National Research University (NIU “BelGU”). More than 100 students from over 40 higher education institutions representing 22-25 regions of Russia participate in these competitions annually. Table 1 presents data on the distribution of prize-winning places of the leading national teams of higher education institutions in armwrestling at the main student competitions of Russia in 2021-2024.Table 1. Team results at the Russian University Championships in 2021-2024. It was found that for the last three years of the competition four different teams won the team standings - the team of the North Caucasus Mining and Metallurgical Institute, Vladikavkaz, NRU “BelSU”, Belgorod, UrFU and ETU LETI, St. Petersburg. It should be noted that during this period of time the team of NRU “BelSU” has been among the winners every time according to the results of the team standings. Also the team of St. Petersburg State Technical University LETI has more than one prize-winning place.Table 2. Athletes - leaders in the individual standings by the number of prizes at the Russian University Armwrestling Championships 2021-2024. Athletes from NRU BelSU were invariably in the top three of the team standings. The leaders in the number of prizes - Shevel K, Ivanchuk K, Klimenko S, Brusensky D and Derznovenko I. were students of the National Research University “Belgorod State University” (Table 2). The other 6 students of the Belgorod team had two prizes in total. Three students from ETU LETI, St. Petersburg also have two prizes for 2021-2024. V. Mityakova and G. Ashadze from “GTSOLIFK”, Moscow were also winners of more than one prize at the student armwrestling competitions.
